About the reviewer

Tom's media career began at the College of DuPage where he started studying video production with the ambition of becoming an on-location cameraman. During his studies, he was bitten by the computer bug and his focus changed to multimedia development. At that time developing training for CD-ROM delivery was the big thing, but on his own he dabbled with FutureSplash and when Macromedia acquired the technology and released Flash, training moved to the web. Tom used his Flash experience to first author interactive design instructions and storyboards for educational interactive Flash animations, and then had the opportunity to develop the animated SWFs. When mobile became popular, he was given the opportunity to oversee three Android developers for a pilot funded by the government. When the funding ran out, so did the funding for the position.

Tom is now applying his knowledge, education and experience of media, social media, and User Centered Design to forge a different type of usability test, the Point of View Artifact review.

Several years after starting the Associates in Media Production at College of DuPage Tom had the opportunity to finish the degree and then earn a Bachelor's of Arts in Interactive Media from Columbia College Chicago. He then went on to earn a Master's of Science in Information Science and Technology with a specialization in Human Computer Interaction from Missouri S&T. His master's research was on The Effects of Technology on Literacy(s).

Tom also developed 3 Android applications available at Google Play, and self-published the short story All I needed to know about projects I learned as a kid shoveling snow: Earning a motorcycle available on Nook and Kindle and at Google Play.
